What is Astrology?

Astrology has been practiced by many cultures for thousands of years and is both a science and an art.

Your birth chart or natal chart is a map of the heavens at the precise moment of your birth and is a map of your potential. Your birth chart shows the influences of the planets at the exact moment you were born and these shape your personality, they show your potential for this lifetime, your strengths, your weaknesses, your hopes & dreams, the kind of relationships you are likely to draw to yourself, and your roots and past experiences.

 This subject often brings up the question of free will. Do we really have free will?

I believe we do to a certain extent,  although we can say much of our life is pre-destined, as in the culture we are born into, the influences surrounding us at birth and our early childhood experiences.

Often people ask about karma and what shows up from their previous incarnations. Personally I believe the whole chart to be karmic, as I strongly believe we 'choose' the moment we are born, to give us the best possible circumstances to fulfill what we came here to do and overcome, we choose the exact moment when the planets are lined up to give us the character we need and the challenges are set in place that we have agreed to deal with and overcome in this incarnation.

We choose for ourselves the best environment and experiences that will aid our own personal growth & evolution.

As we get older we start making decisions and choices for ourselves; however the choices we make will always be determined by our energetic approach to the world, which we can find in our natal charts. For example a person with an emphasis of fire will choose totally differently to someone with an emphasis of earth in their energy.

Your elementary energy shows how you perceive and interact with the world, we all perceive the world as we are, through the 'lens' we call our personality.

What are Transits?

Transits refer to the planets moving across the sky and when they 'touch' or make aspects with your natal planets, they exert an influence on your life.

The Transits of the planets have a huge influence on how our lives are progressing and the influences affecting us at any given time.

Understanding the Transits gives us perspective, clarification and meaning to what is happening in our lives, which can then help us deal more effectively with events and outer influences.

The Transits can show us the best times to move forward, when to hold on and wait and when we can expect to see changes or an end to our current struggles.

On an inner level the Transits show us where we need to make adjustments and transform that area of our lives.

When planets transit and 'hit' our personal planets, they in effect wake us up to what we need to look at, when the transiting planet aspects our personal planets we will get an urge to do something, change something, start a new project, maybe we have been feeling dead inside and want to escape some oppressive situation.

If we suppress these natural urges we will then be forced in one way or another to sit up and take notice.

If we ignore or suppress the messages, the same issues will surface again & again (although maybe in a different way) at the next Transit, until we learn to deal with the issue in a constructive way.
