Reflexology is a non-invasive, holistic Therapy based on the principle that every body part/ system has a corresponding reflex point on the feet and hands and by stimulating these points we can activate the bodies own healing potential.
Reflexology involves working on these reflex points (usually on the feet) using thumb and finger pressure.
Our thoughts, emotions, stress, the food we eat, the environment, can all cause congestion in our body, which then impedes our circulation; we can't get the much needed nutrients and oxygen our cells need. We don't expel toxins as efficiently as we should, our organs become sluggish, and this then leads to dis-ease. In order to keep us healthy and our body working efficiently, energy needs to flow freely through the body.
Reflexology endeavors to remove congestion, to release tensions, to stimulate the release of toxins from the body, to improve circulation and strengthen the immune system.
Around 70 percent of conditions are now believed to have originated from stress. Reflexology alleviates the effects of stress by inducing a deep sense of relaxation which helps every part of the body work more efficiently.
Reflexology aims to bring the body into a state of balance and harmony.
Reflexology does not diagnose specific problems although it is possible to detect energetic blockages and imbalances.
Reflexology can help a wide range of conditions including;
Digestive disorders, Asthma, Hay fever, Anxiety, PMT, Muscular and Skeletal problems, Insomnia, Infertility disorders, Headaches, Migraines and many more.
The number of treatments required would depend on the severity of the condition and the client's reaction to the treatments. Although it is wise to have regular treatments, just as you get your car serviced regularly, your health will benefit from regular maintenance.
Most clients feel a deep sense of relaxation & well being after a treatment although some reactions to the treatment may occur due to the release of toxins; these may include frequent urination & bowel movements, flu like symptoms, tiredness.
Any reaction is a sign of the body's own healing process and will usually pass within 24 hrs.
